ABOUT

My practice is based on the experience of the body in the environment and has arisen from a need to find ways to be more present. Nowadays I mainly work with ceramics and photography but I come from a sculptural, installation-based practice. I work thoughtfully, attentively and precisely. For me, places and things are carriers of experiences and memories.

During the pandemic, I became increasingly drawn to the objects that surround us in everyday life, such as a cup or bowl. My hope is that what I create carries a presence that talks about its own creation.

A question that occupies me is 'How can we live present in our bodies, relationships and in relation to the places we move in?'. In my quest to understand the answer to this question, I look to situations of condensed experiences, for example trips, hikes and courses.

In recent years, I have dedicated myself to learning from Aboriginal and Sami culture in search of a more sustainable relationship with the earth than the Western approaches in which I was brought up. Through books and experiences, I have begun to unlearn the difference we think we have between body and landscape. The more time we spend in contact with the landscape around us, the more our perceived boundaries blur and we can feel the earth as the whole of which we are a part. For me, care is a framework for finding what gives meaning to our lives.
